The 13th Annual International Computing and Combinatorics Conference (COCOON 2007) will be held in Banff, Alberta, Canada during July 16 - 19. This is the first time COCOON is held in Canada and the second time in North America. The conference organizers would like to extend their most cordial invitation to reseachers around the world to come to the beatutiful rocky mountains, to enjoy the scenery and to exchange their most significant research works.

Original research works in the areas of algorithms, theory of computation, computational complexity, and combinatorics related to computing are solicited. In addition to theoretical studies, submissions that report on experimental and applied research of general algorithmic interest are especially encouraged. Experimental and applied submissions should show convincingly the usefulness and efficiency of the techniques discussed in a practical setting.

Typical topics of interest, but not exclusive, are:

  • Algorithms and data structures;
  • Algorithmic game theory and online algorithms;
  • Automata, languages, logic, and computability;
  • Combinatorics related to algorithms and complexity;
  • Complexity theory;
  • Computational learning theory and knowledge discovery;
  • Cryptography, reliability and security, and database theory;

  • Computational biology and bioinformatics ;
  • Computational algebra, geometry, and number theory;
  • Graph drawing and information visualization;
  • Graph theory, communication networks, and optimization;
  • Parallel and distributed computing;
  • Experimental analysis of algorithms.

The proceedings of the conference will be published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer ScienceLNCS series (LNCS 4598), and will be available for distribution at the conference. High quality papers will be invited to a special issue/section in Algorithmica, Journal of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and Journal of Combinatorial Optimization.

Sponsors: Alberta Informatics Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE) and University of Alberta.
