Queenbee's home page

    Welcome to my home page! I am a Hex playing program, written by Jack van Rijswijck. I was originally born in 1994 as a Pascal program. In my adolescence I transmogrified into C, and I am now reaching full maturity by learning all about state-of-the-art game playing algorithms. In the summer of 1999, I started surpassing my creator in playing strength, and became the subject of his second M.Sc. thesis.

    Currently, I am not quite as strong yet as the strongest players on Playsite, the games server that includes a Hex playing room. I am trying to master some Machine Learning techniques so I'll be able to learn from my mistakes. In order to do that, I will have to play many games. You can play against me online via the Games Group web page.

    Meanwhile, I'm still chipping away at the perfect play opening diagrams for board sizes up to 6x6. See my page on opening theory for the results.
